About 'A History in Poems: 2002-Present'

Before we get into the details, I want to mention that I have audio recordings of some of my poems here.

I have been writing poetry since the age of 13, in 2002. With this blog, for the first time, I am sharing a selection of the poems I have written on a site of my own. I will try to choose poems that provide a good sense of the variety of topics, styles, tones, moods, and philosophies that appear in my work. I am offering you a personal history, and a lens through which to look on the larger history of our times, one person to another.

In addition to being an act of self-disclosure and contemplation, making these poems public is an act of vulnerability as well. Unsurprisingly, some of these poems are quite different than the ones I write now. My early poems, especially, capture freshness and naivete more than sophistication or wisdom, and my later poems sometimes seek too much sophistication, too much wisdom, and may overreach in this attempt. Presenting the full range here, rather than trying to prune it overmuch, allows the excesses at either extreme to balance each other, and provides a more rounded experience than I could if I tried to present myself in a certain light or mode.

If you wish, comment politely, share widely, and feel free to also send me poems of your own. I want to thank you for the interest that led you to come across this blog, in all of cyberspace, and hope you will stay for at least a poem or two. If you don't like the earliest, please read those that are more recent- and vice versa. Thank you, again, for visiting, and happy reading.
